Babatunde Adepoye’s hat-trick for Be Forward Wanderers closed the gap on TNM Super League leaders Kamuzu Barracks to only a point after victory over Masters Security at Kamuzu Stadium on Monday.

The Nomads are on second position with 22 points from 9 games, while Kamuzu Barracks who beat Moyale Barracks 2-1 on Monday are on the summit table having amassed 23 points from 10 games. Midfielder , Francis Mkonda put the Nomads ahead , before Adepoye scored the second goal for the Nomads.

The Nomads nerves were eased by a magnificent third goal from Adepoye just before the break, rounding off a perfectly constructed move between Vincent Nyangulu and Isaac Kaliat with a simple finish at the far post.

Adepoye secured another goal in the second half, when he bundled in a Nyangulu’s pass, with another goal coming from Isaac Kaliat. Adepoju may be a new comer at Lali-Lubani Road, but he shows no signs of losing any of the natural marksmanship that marks him down as world-class and one of the greatest strikers of the TNM Super era.

The Nigerian has now scored 10 goals in nine appearances for Wanderers and he has also won man of the match three times. What is often overlooked is Adepoju’s tireless work ethic, constantly defending from the front – one burst of energy and drawing warm applause from both his fellow players and the Nomads supporters.

The standing ovation Adepoye received after the last whistle was richly deserved. Offlate, Wanderers have sparkled , especially in home wins against teams like Kamuzu Barracks, Dwangwa United, Mzuni FC, Mlatho Mponela.

Another new catch from Masters Security, Francis Mkonda again showed his promise and Vincent Nyangulu is a quality addition, while Isaac Kaliat and Felix Zulu in the wings were a serious threat to the visitors.

After the game, Be Forward Wanderers coach, Bob Mpinganjira said : “I understand pressure, pressure to win the games and today we must salute our boys for their performance and l urge them to continue with winning games. Now we have Saturday to start again and think about TN Stars and we go game by game.”

Be Forward Wanderers will host TN Stars at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday.
