Wanderers Win First Blantyre Derby: How It Happened

2017 TNM Super League Champions Beforward Wanderers have passed their litmus test ahead of the CAF Champions League against Athletic Sport Vita FC after edging their old-aged rivals NMC Big Bullets 2-0 at the magnificent Bingu National Stadium.

Fresh from their inhouse crisis that led to their absconding of duties for atleast two days, the nomads started the game on a low note as Bullets were domminating for the better part of the first 20 minutes through their newkid on the block Patrick Phiri who gave nomads defence tough time with his dribbles and touches but his last kicks were awful.

Then wanderers responded some minutes later through Yamikani Chester,Blessings Tembo,JK and ofcourse Peter Wadabwa who were causing havoc in bullets half.

Twenty minutes later a long high ball from Lucky Malata was chested down by Peter Wadabwa to Chester who simply laid it off to Shakira to release a thunderous shot that gave Kankhobwe no chance to give the nomads a slender lead.
After the goal the nomads were displaying good football especially at the centre of the park but Peter Wadabwa’s finishing prowess was abit awful as he twice missed two clear chances the latest being one-on- one with bullets keeper.

On the other hand Bullets cud have levelled the scores some minutes to recess but Phiri’s cool finish was parried away for a corner by nomads custodian Richard Chipuwa.

Come second half bullets started on a high as they did in the first half but they were unlucky to get a goal as nomads defence marshalled by Vubwa,Harinya,Sangweni and Suman were defended jealously providing cover to Richard Chipuwa who had a grand game today.

Essau Kanyenda who came in as a second half substute replacing Blessings Tembo restores nomads lead in the 50th munute this time from a corner taken by Joseph Kamwendo and again the first goal creator Chester provided another assist to Essau who planted home to bring nomads fans into ecstasy, from there it was more less like a training game as the nomads through Dan Kumwenda,Kaziputa,Zulu and Msosa who replaced Namwera,JK,Chester and Wadabwa were eating sauceges to secure their slender lead with a passing game.

Towards the end of the match Bullets defender Maneno Nyoni was taken to the hospital as he collapsed when he was tempted to clear the ball away from danger and he collided with towering Msosa in an earlial combat and the nomads also suffered a blow when Harry limped off the field and was replaced by Dennis Chembezi….2-0 to fulltime as the nomads fine tuning for the champions league later nextweek away to Congo.
