Be Forward Wanderers will face Silver Strikers in the finals of FISD Cup after the bankers thrashed Nyasa Big Bullets by 2-0 during a game played at Bingu National Stadium on Sunday.
In an interview with Beforward Wanderers Media, Team Manager Steve Madeila said the Nomads are ready to face Silver Strikers although he expects a “tough” encounter.
“It will be a tough match. Silver is a very good team with a sound set up, but we are also equally good and ready.
“We know Silver. We don’t have to study them. They are good with exception players like Young Chimodzi JR, Levi Maganizo, Thuso Pipe, Trevor Kalema and also potential match winners in Tete, Mphatso Filimoni and Khuda Muyawa,” he said.
The Nomads reached the finals following their 2-1 victory against Moyale Barracks on Saturday at the same venue.
Goals from Bongani Kaipa and Joseph Kamwendo were all what the Lali Lubani boys needed to book their place in the final.
It was Moyale Barracks who took the lead just 7 minutes into the game through their man Deus Mkutu who converted a Sandress Munthali’s cross from the right flank.
However, Kaipa’s 9th minute goal cancelled their 2 minutes celebration to level the scoreline.
Kaipa headed home from a Mike Kaziputa’s cross before Joseph Kamwendo made it 2-1 in the 86th minute through his magic free kick which sent the stadium into wild celebrations.
Wanderers won a free kick after Peter Wadabwa was fouled outside the penalty box.
The final match will be played on December 23 at Bingu National Stadium.
This is second time BE Forward Wanderers have reached into the finals of the Fisd Cup. They were Inaugural Cup winner in 2016 after beating Kamuzu Barracks 4-3 on post match penalties at the Civo Stadium with Alfred Manyozo Jnr scoring the decisive penalty.
The match ended goalless after regular time.
Last year, Wanderers failed to defend the trophy after being knocked out by Moyale Barracks in the preliminary round.
