Super League of Malawi (Sulom) has announced that the 2017/18 TNM Super League will kick-Off on May 6 and the opening match will involve Be Forward Wanderers and Kamuzu Barracks either at Bingu National or Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.
Sulom general secretary Williams Banda confirmed the kick-off date with Be Forward Wanderers Media.
Banda said all is set for the kick-off and urged teams to put an extra gear ahead of the League.
Reacting to this development, Be Forward Wanderers General Secretary Mike Butao said it was a welcome development after many clubs complained that the delay was taking a toll on their finances.
“We are so delighted because we have been preparing for the League without knowing the kick-Off date. Now our players will work hard knowing the date has been set,” said Butao.
Wanderers coach Yasin Osman said so far so better in as far as their preparations for the League are concerned.
He said the technical panel has been trying different combinations during their pre-season games.
“We are almost ready because out of nine games we have won eight, and losing only once. This a sign that things are progressing well,” he said.
The Nomads won their pre-season matches against Lake Valley, Premier Bet Wizards, Nyasa Big Bullets, Kamuzu Barracks, Silver Strikers, Mulanje Select, Salima Select, Namwera Select. They only lost to Mafco.
